For Families
How do I get started?
Email info@healthcaretherapies.net. We'll schedule an in-person evaluation at a time that works for your family.
Do I need to be on the CLASS waiver?
No. Most of our clients are, but we also offer private-pay treatment plans.
Who are HCT therapists?
Dedicated professionals who have completed competency-based education and are licensed or certified in massage, music or recreational therapy.
What kind of therapy would work best?
That's decided together by the client, family, physicians and therapist. One or several therapies may be combined.
What can we expect from each session?
Before treatment begins, the therapist builds trust and communication, including informed consent. Over time, techniques evolve as goals are reached and new ones emerge.
Which areas do you serve?
Today our therapists serve the Austin and Odessa areas, and we're growing across Texas. Somewhere else? Reach out anyway. If you have a need, we'll look for a therapist for you.
Where do sessions happen, and how long are they?
In your home; recreational therapy can also take place in the community. Massage sessions typically run 1 to 1.5 hours.
Do you offer one-time visits?
No. We focus on ongoing treatment plans, because consistent care gets results.
What should be worn, and is special equipment needed?
Whatever is comfortable; shorts and a t-shirt work well. No special equipment: massage can take place on a mat, a bed or hospital bed, a wheelchair, or a table the therapist brings.
Does a parent or guardian need to be present?
Yes, for clients 16 and under, as Texas rules require. For most clients a family member, nurse or attendant is nearby anyway.
What makes HCT massage different from "relaxation" massage?
Our therapists use specialized, medical massage techniques that target specific symptoms. We check needs and contraindications with the family and medical team first, so therapy complements the client's other care.
For Therapists
Am I an employee or a contractor?
An employee. HCT therapists are W-2, paid bi-weekly by direct deposit.
What does it pay?
Pay depends on role and experience. Reach out and we'll walk you through it.
Do I need experience with special needs?
No. We look for therapists who genuinely want to do this work, and we'll train and support you.
How quickly can I start?
Our goal is to have you onboarded in under 2 weeks. See open roles.
